Revolution Taproom & Grill: A Community Staple in Rochester

Here is one of my personal favorites – and very much in the spirit of ‘sqeezing more juice.’  The Revolution Taproom & Grill www.RochesterTapRoomandGrill.com in Rochester, New Hampshire, isn’t just a place to enjoy a craft beer and a great meal—it’s a cornerstone of the community, boasting a rich history, an award-winning executive chef, and a menu that keeps locals and visitors coming back for more. And it’s a place where much of the Sunshine Initiative’s early efforts in Rochester came to life.  It’s where I would often meet with Paul Callaghan (before he became Mayor), Brian Hettrick of the Sunshine Initiative, and others to plan and lay out a path for working with the city.

Founded in 2014 by Mark and Stacey Marchionni, Revolution Taproom & Grill has played a key role in revitalizing downtown Rochester with its gastropub concept. Combining scratch-made food, an extensive bourbon and craft beer selection, and a welcoming atmosphere, the restaurant quickly became a local favorite. Over the years, Revolution has expanded its space, added an outdoor patio, and introduced wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, which became especially popular during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executive Chef Walter Leffler isn’t just any chef—he’s cooked for presidents, first ladies, and celebrities like Shaquille O’Neal and Julia Child. With over four decades of experience in elite five-star, five-diamond kitchens, Leffler brings an unmatched level of expertise to Revolution’s menu. His passion for elevating classic dishes with high-quality ingredients and expert techniques has helped make the restaurant a standout culinary destination.
